Ever dreamed of experiencing a world like Willy Wonka? Well, The Inventing Room is probably the closest you can get in real life!
The Inventing Room opened in October of 2017 in the SloHi district. A dessert shop filled with fantastic creations and scientific experiments, this place is an experience you can’t find anywhere else.
The Food
The menu is made up of Snacks, Desserts, and Drinks, with fun flavors and numerous delicious concoctions such as exploding whipped cream and space foam.
I ordered the Warm Butterscotch Cream with sticky toffee pudding and vanilla ice cream. It came topped with exploding whipped cream and a huge piece of cotton candy!
While you wait, munch on their specialty kettle corn while watching the dessert-making magic.
The popcorn, as well as the Really, Really Cold Cheetos, has been soaked in liquid nitrogen. Don’t worry, it’s safe to eat. The liquid nitrogen makes the popcorn really cold, so it appears that smoke is coming out of your mouth when you eat it. Does it get more Willy Wonka than that?
We also tried the Lemon Curd Ice Cream with stewed blueberries and meringue and the Chai Milkshake with Tea Syrup. Both topped with exploding whipped cream.
Would I go back?
The atmosphere at The Inventing Room is so fun. It’s a great place for kids, or adults that are kids at heart.
It’s not a place I would frequent often and as far as dessert quality, there are better places to satisfy your sweet tooth. But the atmosphere and creativity make The Inventing Room a place you should visit at least once!
