Sometimes you just have to explore your own backyard.
I spend so much of my time dreaming about far-off places that I forget to appreciate things that have been 20 minutes away from me for years.
After coming back from LA, I was thinking about street art and I realized that there is actually a lot of street art in Denver. So Luke and I took a Saturday to go investigate and I have to say I was really surprised with the results we found.
So much street art, everywhere!
This blog focuses on RiNo district of Denver, known as the artsy district, which is north of Downtown, wedged between I-25 and I-70. After that day, I am in love with that area of town and very excited to explore more, especially the many restaurants, breweries, and bars that have been opening up.
Alley of Street Art
We parked on 28th street, in between Walnut and Larimer. Luke said we should avoid the alleyway and head over to Walnut to look for street art. But I had a strong feeling that an alleyway was what we were looking for. So we turned down the alley and saw this. Jackpot!
The AlleyWay continues
The artwork continues past 27th street into another alley. Here they have started putting in a nice cobblestone street, which makes it feel less like you are walking through an alley. It is a really nice touch and I definitely want to revisit to see the finished product.
If you walk farther up past 28th, the alley continues with some more interesting art.
Larimer Sreet
If you head over to Larimer, there is street art dispersed amongst restaurants, shops, and breweries. Check it out while you stroll around this trendy area.
I love this flower wall next to Crema Coffee House (and the coffee is great too).
This piece, painted on two different walls, is also really impressive.
My favorite part about walking around Larimer was that walking one direction compared to the other direction looks completely different. The difference in perspective and the new pieces you catch makes it feel like you are walking down another street.
If you walk over to Walnut and 29th you can find this gem:
The Denver Sign
Finally, this one caught my eye on the drive over and I made us go back for the photo. This is located at Broadway and Park Avenue W.
This was such a fun day and I highly recommend that you explore the RiNo area, whether resident or visitor.
